Callies’ line of Compstar crankshafts begin their life overseas utilizing proprietary forging equipment and designs, not generic forgings that other manufacturers useFrom unique enhancements like the triangle shaped notching found one their counterweights, to exclusive 8-counterweight designs, the 4340 steel forgings are rough-machined at the foundry, and final processed and machined at Callies’ USA facility.

All Compstar components are 100% Mag Particle inspected to verify there are no cracks or inclusions in the material. Theyr are also inspected by Callies’ in-house metallurgical laboratory to verify material and heat treatment meet Callies’ engineering and quality requirements. Beginning with properly placed counterweights that not only improve balance but reduce bearing loads, every aspect of these highly stressed components has been analyzed.
