4.6L/5.4L 3V CAM PHASER NOISE REPAIR KIT

This CARB legal Livernois Motorsports product is designed to solve a major problem with the 4.6 and 5.4 Ford 3 valve engines. Over time as these engines wear they develop a knocking noise in the front timing chain area of the engine. This is commonly caused by the cam phaser moving back and forth uncontrollably which in addition to all the noise will also send error codes to the computer and send the engine into the ‘limp’ mode. An engine in the ‘limp’ mode will run very poorly with symptoms like low power, poor mileage, rough idle etc. This permanent repair kit will change the phaser to a solid hub design and install a new tune into the vehicles computer to get it out of the ‘limp’ mode and return it to normal operations. Simple in design, requiring no special tools and it includes our timing chain wedge tool which makes it even easier saving you hours of time. This is the the only CARB legal and most complete cam phaser repair kit available anywhere.

Note; This kit is designed to repair the Ford OEM cam phasers only, many times aftermarket Dorman phasers have been installed by previous owners to fix this condition only to have it return again. Any vehicle with the aftermarket Dorman phasers require a different kit part number LPP823123 also on occasion we have found vehicles with one Ford OEM phaser and one Dorman phaser as well. To help fix these mismatched phaser vehicles or if you are unsure what phaser you have we sell kit number LPP822133 which included the lock outs for both Ford OEM and aftermarket Dorman phasers. If you are unsure and are doing this repair and don’t want to be stopped on your repair with the incorrect lockouts we highly recommend the LPP822133 kit. For trucks with the 4.6/5.4L 3V engine this kit eliminates the most common failure or issue with these engines, the cam phaser. Cam phaser knock on the 4.6/5.4L 3V trucks is a very common problem, one that usually results in eventually failure of the cam phaser due to excessive movement. This causes the pin in the phaser to fracture the housing of the phaser, and in extreme cases the entire assembly can fail and damage the engine.

Adding this kit to a 4.6/5.4L 3V truck will help ensure that your cam phasers don’t suffer premature failure. It will eliminate any knocking noise heard from the front valve cover/timing cover area related to the phasers as well.

These solid lockouts lock the internals of the cam phaser to create a fixed gear with no moving parts and no internal mechanisms to make noise or fail. Simple in design and requiring no special tools to install, our wedge tool increases ease of installation.
